PIONEER DAY CELEBRATION-JULY 23rd & 24th
We are celebrating “FAITH TO CONQUER FEAR”! We invite
everyone to join in the fun with your family and friends. Mark your
calendar for this great event! Here are the
details……
POCATELLO’S GOT TALENT
- Friday July 23rd Pocatello High School 7:00
p.m. This family oriented evening will showcase the talents of
groups and individuals from all over the area. Admission is free,
however a donation of canned goods, non-perishable items or money for
the Idaho Food Bank is suggested.
BIKE RIDE & FUN RUN -
This is a great event to start the day! Meet at Ross Park at 6:30
a.m. for same day registration, or pre-register on line a
www.pioneerdaycelebration.com and come at 6:45 a.m. The event
starts at 7:00 a.m. sharp! All ages and skill levels are
welcome. Events include a 5K & 10K run and a 25 mile bike
ride. T-shirts are available to those who pre-register for a
$5.00 fee. Barrie’s Ski and Sports will do a bike check for
the race for free.
PARADE
– The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. at Holt Arena. The parade
route runs down 15th to Center to Main Street in Old Town. All
floats must be at the Holt Arena by 8:00 a.m. for line up and
judging. Please register all floats or individual entries in
advance at www.pioneerdaycelebration.com. There will be prizes
for the best floats! For parade questions call Geoff Bennett at
232-0883. We are excited to have former Pocatello Mayor, State
Legislator and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints General
Authority L. Ed Brown and his wife Carol as our Parade Grand Marshals.
FAIRGROUNDS
– Gates open at the Fairgrounds at 11:00 a.m. The Boy
Scouts will provide a Grand Opening Flag Ceremony at 12:00 noon.
Activities and food will be served from 11:00 to 4:00 p.m.
GRANDSTAND ARENA EVENTS - Moto-Cross Barrel Races will be held from 12:15-1:30 p.m. To participate in the Moto-Cross events register by calling Darren Crockett at 251-7217. Mutton Busting
for children under 50 pounds will be held from 1:30 – 3:00
p.m. Weigh in will begin at 11:00 a.m. Children must be
registered in advance to participate. You can register at
McKee’s or Vickers Western Wear. Registration forms are
available on the website www.pioneerdaycelebration.com. Indian
Bareback Race will start at 3:00 p.m. The Grand Finale
Chief’s Race will begin at 3:45 p.m. These are
exciting! We will also be treated with Native American
dancing. Come see the action!
FOOD- There will be great food! Chuck Wagon Dinner, Hamburgers, Pizza, Indian Tacos,
Snow Cones, Cotton Candy and much more! Free hot dogs and watermelon for kids under 12!
ACTIVITIES
– The fun just keeps on coming with a Dunking Booth, Water
Slides, Bouncing Toys, Mini Train, Hand Cart Pull, Kiddie Horse Back
Rides, Air-soft Target Shooting, Fish Pond, Petting Zoo, Pioneer Doll
Making, Face Painting, Pioneer Store and much more!
ENTERTAINMENT
– There will be toe-tapping, on-going entertainment at
Fairgrounds Theater throughout the celebration. Contact Steve
